The long wait for Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is reportedly further extended to December 2013 at the latest, disheartening anew tens of millions of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 users around the world, new reports said.
Yet the bad news is quickly erased by Samsung ‘s alleged plan of directly bumping up the two 2012 Android flagships to Jelly Bean 4.3, making the long wait worth for GS3 and Note 2 owners, CNET said in a report, citing tech blog site Temefy as its source.
The supposed plan will shove Jelly Bean 4.2.2 out of the picture for the South Korean tech giant’s former signature handsets. Yet recipients of the upcoming Android upgrade patch will have to stock up on patience as the step up will not happen until the last month of 2013.
CNET, however, hinted that Samsung could wrap up the reconfiguration of the latest Jelly Bean sweets by November, giving the throng of GS3 and Note 2 users their early Christmas present.
The best is yet to unfold as the possibility is very high that Key Lime Pie will be dispatched for the delight of Galaxy S4 owners earlier than expected. No specific date was provided by the Temefy report but it implied that would-be buyers of the third-gen phablet Galaxy Note 3 will experience the same KLP joy.
That points to a holiday gift for GS4 and Note 3 fans. It is possible too that KLP will soon power the GS3 and Note 2, making it a double-whammy of bliss for owners of the bestselling devices.
It could be that between December 2013 and January 2014, Android 5.0 will supersede Jelly Bean 4.3 on upscale Samsung smartphones, at least in the cases of the GS3 and Note 2.
As earlier asserted by Gotta Be Mobile, the GS3 and the Note 2 remain an attractive buy for Android user as their power features will be at par with 2013 and 2014 smartphone series. But the biggest bonus for would-be buyers is the thought that Samsung will continue supporting the handsets for an extended time. That would mean future Android updates will be deployed.
Jelly Bean 4.3 is supposed to come out last week of this month with Google Editions of the GS4 and HTC One to initially display the mobile OS. KLP, on the other hand, will reportedly debut in October and it is the Nexus 5 that will first showcase its prowess.
