Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Start Rocking Android 4.2.2 Now! - Auto-o-Mobile

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a popular Android smartphone that’s attracted a lot of attention from developers. It’s in line to get Jelly bean 4.2, but as we don’t have a date, you might want to install the update via a custom ROM.

Installing a ROM is always done at your own risk, so if you brick your phone, you’ve got no warranty comeback. Make sure you follow all the instructions to keep your phone safe.

You can use the ROM with all the international Note 2 versions, with AT & T, Verizon and T-Mobile, as long as the handset is rooted.

You’ll need at least 70% battery so that the power isn’t disrupted while flashing, as this can damage your phone. You also need to back your phone up before you start so you can reinstall all your data later.

Turn off security programmes on your PC and your handset.

Head to Settings> Application Development> USB Debugging, make sure this is enabled.

Make sure that you have ClockworkMod or another recovery app on your handset.

Download your chosen ROM onto your PC.

Follow these instructions to the letter.

1. Install Samsung USB drivers onto your PC.

2. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to your PC then copy the chosen ROM and your Google Apps package onto your device’s SD card.

3. Turn off your Note 2 and reboot it into recovery mode. To do this, you need to press and hold the volume up and volume down keys, as well as the power keys after the device is switched off.

4. Create an Android backup for your current ROM, just in case you need to restore it id the flash goes wrong. Choose “backup and restore> backup.” You simply select “restore” if you want to go back to your current ROM.

5. In the main menu, choose “wipe data / factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”. Then, go back and choose “advanced> wipe Dalvik cache”.

6. Return to your main menu and choose “install zip from SD card> choose zip from SD card”. Choose the ROM file you copied onto your Note 2 and confirm the installation, then do this again with the Google Apps package.

7. Once the installation is done, return to the main menu and select “reboot system now”.

8. Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will now reboot, which can take a few minutes, and complete the first run of your new ROM.

You should now have Jelly Bean 4.2 on your Note 2, along with Paranoid Android, CyanogenMod and AOKP. Say thanks to the nice PACMan!
