Galaxy Note users who are looking to update their devices with Android 4.2.2 using the SlimBean Build 4.2, may follow our step-by-step guide. It should be noted that as the aforementioned ROM is in its development stage, users may come across minor bug issues after installing the firmware.

IBTimes UK reminds its readers that it will not be held liable for any mishap. Users are also advised to ensure that their devices meet following requirements.

Pre-requisites

7) After flashing the ROM, if the device gets stuck on Booting animation or experience boot loop, then perform wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache five more times before rebooting the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has finally released to the public after a long awaited

As the Galaxy S4 rolls out in the US this week, the Samsung brand is likely to experience a big wave of sales coming up.

You may be choosing between the Apple iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S4 as all three will be arguably the best handsets on the market this year around the globe. So which is the best? While the iPhone 5 has enlarged its screen to a 4 inch display screen, the Galaxy Note 2 has a massive 5.5 inch screen. This could be a great feature for watching videos or reading, however, a complaint with the size is that you have to use two hands to do almost anything on the Galaxy Note 2. The Galaxy Note 2′s processor is twice as fast as the iPhone 5 with more RAM, and has double the battery size at 3100mAh. The iPhone 5 still has a great battery life of 8 hours (talk time) which lasts you a whole day, but I guess if you want to take your phone camping for a whole weekend with no charger, then the Note 2 is the way to go with a remarkable 35 hours of talk time battery life.

Will the Galaxy S4 will boasts a larger screen and battery then iphone to date as well as new “hovering” hand technology. This new feature lets the user wave their hand a few inches over the top of the screen and it will be able to navigate for it. We will have to wait and see how functional this feature actually is, but if it works, even though maybe not very practical, it is definitely revolutionary.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is equipped with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean while the Apple iPhone 5 has its own proprietary OS, iOS 6. The iOS system is deemed the better functioning of the two by the public. Apple’s App Store has apps that tend to be more polished and with a more pleasing appearance. The sleeker look and display would go to the Apple iPhone 5 with the Samsung handset looking somewhat cheap with to its plastic materials. Both phones have 8 megapixel cameras on the back. The Note 2 has with a 1.9MP shooter on the front while the Apple iPhone 5 a 1.2MP. The Galaxy Note 2 does have a cool feature with split screen, and even triple screen that is very cool.So in summary the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has bigger display and battery, storage and processor. The Apple iPhone 5 has better price tag, looks, design and the camera with better photos in low light and faster image capture. The Galaxy S4 has a bigger screen, better battery and potentially revolutionary features. In the end it comes down to which operating system you prefer, Android or iOS.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs iPhone 5: Which Is Best? - SidhTech

If you are updating an old handset you could be looking at the Apple iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Both handsets are available now and they are both superb choices despite their age.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 runs on Jelly Bean, the Apple iPhone 5 has iOS 6. Both of the operating systems have good and bad points. iOS is easy to learn and it is the most stable. Handsets that have iOS generally command a higher price when it comes to resale too. The Apple Store is home to a large range of apps too.

When Jelly Bean was introduced and it was a large step up from Ice Cream Sandwich. Android is constantly being updated, but it can be more difficult to learn, however it is well worth it due to its flexibility. iOS tends to be simple to learn, but it is more restrictive than Android.

If you need to be able to customise your handset you would choose Android as it has lots of widgets, launchers and ROMs. You don’t have to sync with iTunes either. You cannot get any of this with iOS as all you can change is your wallpaper and ringtone. Android is generally the slower of the operating systems for getting updates out to the masses though. When Apple bring out a new operating system the Apple iPhone 5 will get it in just a few weeks, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 might be waiting for months for an update once it has been released.

Older handsets running Android often get left behind and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, at less than one year old, might not get updated past Jelly Bean. On the other hand the Apple iPhone 5 will get the latest iOS 7 update when Apple launch it.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is twice as fast as the iPhone 5 though in benchmarks, thanks to it having quad core processors and double the RAM. It also has a larger battery, larger display and it comes with the S Pen. The Apple iPhone 5 is the better looking of the two handsets, however this is due to Samsung using an abundance of plastic on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

You should get around 35 hours from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 if you use 2G and with 3G this would be about 16 hours. The device has a removable battery and it supports SD card expansion, something which the Apple iPhone 5 doesn’t.

There is a camera of 8 megapixels with both handsets and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 supports a camera of 1.9 megapixels on the front, while this is a 1.2MP on the Apple iPhone 5. Both handsets support HSPA + and LTE.

For the battery, the processor and storage, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 wins. The Apple iPhone 5 is the winner for design, camera and the price tag. You can pick up the Apple iPhone 5 from $ 199, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 starts at $ 299.

HTC One, Galaxy S3, S4, Note 2, Optimus G pro and Nexus 4 in the test - InternetUA

HTC One, Galaxy S3, S4, Note 2, Optimus G pro Nexus and 4 in the test

portal PhoneArena has published the results of benchmark tests of the six most powerful devices of this and last year: Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, HTC One, Optimus G Pro, Nexus 4 and Note 2. The test results will be of interest to many, and many will probably surprise you. Find out which of these smartphones is the fastest!

most popular performance comparison test revealed among the six units examined two clear leaders: current flagship Samsung and HTC: Galaxy S4 and One, who surely have left behind all other smartphones. Saddest thing according to this test looks Galaxy S3.

Quadrant Standard test

Quadrant Standard test may not be so popular and in such high esteem, as, for example, GLBenchmark and 3D Mark, but exclude it from the list should not be . Just as in the previous test, clear leaders have HTC One and Galaxy S4. However, in contrast to the Antutu a small margin goes ahead Galaxy S4. The lowest rates at the Galaxy S3, a little better, still not as good as I would like the Nexus 4.

GL Benchmark 2.7: graphics performance

You might be surprised, but in this test quite sure beat Nexus 4, whose only 720-pixel screen gave the best performance, than the latest flagships screens with higher resolution. Obvious weak links were Galaxy S3 and Note2.

Total

Overall, total wins the Samsung Galaxy S4, which perhaps could be called the fastest smartphone to date, at least when it comes to synthetic benchmarks. It should also be noted, with not such a big margin in second place is located one of the main competitors HTC One. The third smartphone, also running on a processor Snapdragon 600 – Optimus G Pro – albeit achieved good results, but inferior to the previous two. Presumably because insufficient work has been done on the optimization of the software. But the important thing to remember – it’s all synthetic, artificial tests. Really noticeable difference between these devaysa ordinary people can hardly feel it. The choice should be based on other factors. But this is my personal opinion. But forewarned is forearmed, so keep a mental note!

Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 2: 5 Things to Know - GottaBeMobile - Gotta Be Mobile

In just a few days, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will finally land on shelves in the United States after several weeks of anticipation. And while many have already made the choice to buy the Galaxy S4, plenty of others are still trying to decide whether they want to buy the Galaxy S4 or if they want to buy another top of the line smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

While the Samsung Galaxy S4 has already started arriving on doorsteps in the United States for those that pre-ordered, the device still has not appeared on physical or online shelves for immediate purchase. And while tons of consumers have already ordered the device, clear from the inventory issues that have driven back release dates, plenty of others are still trying to decide whether to order or not.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is an extremely tempting smartphone as it boasts all the bells and whistles of a modern day superphone. It comes with a 5-inch display that boasts 1080p, a speedy quad-core processor that is top of the line at the moment, a 13MP camera that is up there with the best of them, a solid durable design that has many perks, the most current version of Android and an assortment of powerful software features courtesy of Samsung.

It’s also going to be available on the 4G LTE networks of an assortment of carriers in the United States including AT & T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon, making it a prime choice for those upgrading or those signing a new contract. Despite its superphone status, the Galaxy S4 isn’t the only intriguing smartphone on the market.

In fact, there are plenty of high-end options out there, including Samsung’s very own Galaxy Note 2, a device that is also both unique and alluring to those looking for a device.

The Galaxy Note series is Samsung’s compliment to the Galaxy S series and the most current device is the Galaxy Note 2, a 5.5-inch, quad-core powered beast that sports a bundled stylus called the S Pen. It’s a device that has gone on to sell millions around the world and for good reason. It’s a fantastic smartphone and one of the best Android devices on the market.

Many consumers are likely sizing up the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S4. However, beyond just the pure specifications, there are some things that interested buyers should know in regards to how the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2 match up.

Here now are five of the most important things to know about the match up between the new Samsung Galaxy S4 and last year’s Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet.

Galaxy Note 2 Isn’t That Much Bigger

While the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is indeed a massive smartphone, sporting a large 5.5-inch display, the Samsung Galaxy S4 actually isn’t that much smaller than Samsung’s device, a device that is often referred to as a phablet because it combines features of both a tablet and a smartphone.

This year, Samsung upped the display of the Galaxy S series to 5-inches, larger than the 4.8-inch display that was on the Galaxy S3. The comparison below shows just how the Galaxy Note 2′s design matches up with the Galaxy S4. While the Galaxy Note 2 is indeed bigger than the Galaxy S4, it does not dwarf it like it does other smartphones, the iPhone 5 in particular.

The Galaxy S4 compared to the Galaxy Note 2.

The Galaxy S4 compared to the Galaxy Note 2.

The point is, while the Galaxy Note 2 may be marketed as this massive beast of a smartphone, the Galaxy S4 is not small at all and potential buyers should know that before buying.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is, however, both lighter and thinner than the Galaxy Note 2.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Will Get Android 5.0 First

In May, Google will be hosting its annual developer conference, Google I / O, where it’s rumored to be announcing its upcoming Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie software update. Thus far, that remains unconfirmed and we still aren’t sure what the features of the update are. There is one thing that we can be sure of when it comes to Android 5.0 though.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will beat the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and based on past update timelines, it will beat it decisively. The Galaxy S4, which runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, will likely be the first Samsung device with the new software on board. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is still on Android 4.1, will likely be upgraded first to Android 4.2, then to Android 5.0.

Don't believe the latest rumor that Android 5.0 is delayed.

The Galaxy S4 will likely beat the Galaxy Note 2 to Android 5.0. By a good margin too.

As we have pointed out many times, US. carriers are extremely slow to Galaxy Note updates so even when the Galaxy Note 2 does get Android 4.2, US variants will be far behind their foreign counterparts. That means that Android 5.0 will likely come at a date far off in the distance.

That said, those who like being quick to updates will want to know that about the Galaxy Note series and look much more closely at the Galaxy S4.

1080p Is Great, But Isn’t a Deal Breaker

One of the big and highly touted feature coming to Android smartphones this year is 1080p resolution which is also accompanied by high pixel-per-inch counts. This means that content whether it’s a movie or the web will look as sharp, rich and crisp as it ever has on a smartphone. The Galaxy S4 possesses a 1080p display, the Galaxy Note 2 does not. And we don’t think that’s a deal breaker.

We’ve had a chance to spend quite a bit of time with both displays and we enjoyed them both. The Galaxy S4 display is going to offer the better looking content thanks to its new technology, but it doesn’t exactly knock the Galaxy Note 2 out of the park.

The Galaxy S4 display features better resolution than the Galaxy Note 2's, but it's not a deal breaker.

The Galaxy S4 display features better resolution than the Galaxy Note 2′s, but it’s not a deal breaker.

The Galaxy Note 2, while sporting 720p HD resolution, still is capable of providing fantastic looking content and average consumers, especially those that don’t consume a lot of content on their smartphone will be more than happy with the Galaxy Note 2 ‘s display.

Simply put, both screens are gorgeous and the fact that the Galaxy Note 2 sports lesser resolution won’t be a deal breaker for many consumers.

Galaxy S4 Has Galaxy Note 2 Features

The Samsung Galaxy Note series is known for its bundled S Pen stylus which can take advantage of a number of applications including its S Note note taking app. It can also be used to crop things like photos. The S Pen is also able to take advantage of a feature called Air View that allows Galaxy Note owners to hover over content like email for a quick preview. It also arrived with a feature called Multi-Window view that allows owners to split up the screen real estate to run two separate apps at the same time.

And while the Galaxy Note 2 will retain some of its uniqueness, Samsung outfitted the Galaxy S4 with some Galaxy Note 2-like features. Multi-View will be on board the Galaxy S4 but the Galaxy S4 also has its own form of Air View and it doesn’t even require the S Pen.

A sensor inside the Galaxy S4 allows owners to take advantage of Air View without the need for an S Pen. Instead, owners can simply use their finger to hover over content like email for a preview.

Furthermore, Galaxy S4 users can also take advantage of another feature called Air Gesture which allows users to change music or browse the web simple by using hand motions.

So while it won’t have access to S Pen apps like S Note, the Galaxy S4 did steal some of the Galaxy Note 2′s software thunder and those who might have been iffy on using the S Pen might want to look a little harder at the Galaxy S4.

Galaxy Note 2 Will Likely Get Some Galaxy S4 Features

The Galaxy Note 2 will likely get some Galaxy S4 software features.

The Galaxy Note 2 will likely get some Galaxy S4 software features.

While the Galaxy S4 stole and improved on some software features of the Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy Note 2 will likely get some of the Galaxy S4′s software features on the road. Samsung has confirmed Galaxy S4 software features for the Galaxy S3 and it implied that the Galaxy Note 2 would be getting some at some point as well.

What those features might be is unclear but a safe bet is on the many camera app improvements that Samsung packed into the Galaxy S4 software. Two of the main features are Sound & Shot and Dual Camera which are likely candidates for the Galaxy Note 2 down the road.

This means that Galaxy Note 2 buyers can feel comfortable knowing that their device will get new features, even those found on Samsung’s new flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has Jelly Bean as the OS, while the Apple iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6. Both of the operating systems have the good and bad points. iOS 6 is the most stable out of the operating systems and it is easy to learn and use. Devices on iOS usually have a better resale value too. There are more polished apps in the Apple Store than what you can get in the Google Play Store. The apps in the Google Play store are free with ads while you pay for them without at the App Store.

When Jelly Bean was released it was a large jump up and Android is always being updated. It may be more difficult to learn, but it can be worth it. iOS is more simple to learn, but then it is more restrictive than Android.

The battery is bigger too, but then the display is larger and it also features the S Pen. When it comes to looks the iPhone happens to be the best of the two and this is down to the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has the plastic look to it.
