Micromax Canvas Doodle 2
Micromax launched their Canvas Doodle 2, the 5.7-inch phablet in India recently. While the phablet trend is slowly on the rise with more and more companies jumping in on the bandwagon, we wonder if the timing for the launch of Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 was more than a sweet co-incidence with the impending Samsung Galaxy Note III launch.
Micromax has quickly risen to be the number 3 phone maker in India in 2012-13 accoding to a recent survey conducted by Voice & Data (number 2 in Q1 of 2013 according to reports by IDC) and has managed to carve even an international presence. It comes as no surprise then that the company often takes head on with their strongest competitor in the Indian segment, Samsung. While Samsung is the top smartphone maker in the world and in India, Micromax is slowly clawing its way to the top. Their aggressive pricing with high-level specifications helped lever the company to one of the top most positions in India and other Asian nations.
That Micromax aims to be the Indian Samsung is a well-leaked secret and recent launched by the Samsung nemesis have only made the fact clearer. Just after the launch of Samsung’s present flagship Samsung Galaxy S4, Micromax announced their next Canvas flagship (co-incidentally) titled Micromax Canvas 4. While Samsung’s 4 indicated the flagship number for the company, it was the number of processors indicated by the latter’s naming of the device. Not just the naming but even gesture controls and retina tracking made the Micromax Canvas 4 a budget option for Samsung Galaxy S4 aspirants.
While Samsung had the upper edge during the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4, Micromax seems to be in no mood to wait. Just 10 days before the launch of Samsung’s next flagship, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Micromax launched their phablet Micromax Canvas Doodle 2. While the specifications of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are still hazy, Micromax, by launching the Doodle 2 gained an edge.
