Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 2: persistent deja vu

MediaPad 7 Lite 2 has retained almost the same appearance as that was released last fall, a 7-inch tablet line ancestor. Experienced users will notice a strong resemblance to certain gadgets from Huawei and HTC Flyer. But as the court of planshetostroiteley no one filed, we will assume this is just a coincidence.

Losing weight and thickness of the MediaPad 7 Lite 2 are practically invisible – 40 g and 1.5 mm, respectively – but give Huawei right once again reminded of this in promotional materials. Alas, without the epithet “easiest” or “very fine” – among the tablets with a diagonal you can find many items that bypass Lite 2 on these parameters.

However, the visual differences do exist: changed the shape of the plastic inserts on the rear panel, and peephole camera and speaker are shifted a few inches – now they are just in the middle. Changes in the distribution of hardware buttons, connectors and slots are so insignificant that they can be ignored.

sure the developers completely redesigned the electronic stuffing? Certainly not: users are still the same IPS-c display resolution of 1024×600 pixels, the same amount of memory – gigabytes of RAM and 8GB of user (expandable to an additional 32 GB through microSD-cards) and the same unassuming camera – 3.1 megapixel and 0.3 megapixel. But a set of wireless interfaces is limited by the same 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.

Yet the tablet is not for nothing was the index “2″. The biggest and most important difference from the first MediaPad 7 Lite – the processor. Although the chip is “two” and is working on the former 1.2 GHz, this is a completely different solution: Lite 2 is equipped with quad-core version of the Cortex-A9, Cortex-A8, instead of just one core at “unity.” Testing using a special application AnTuTu shows almost two-time boost in performance (15,379 points) – it is inferior to Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Google Nexus 4, but outperforms its competitor 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Perhaps its modest contribution to the overall growth of power and makes a more advanced version of “OSes»: Lite 2 is running Android 4.1, whereas in the previous version of the tablet was loaded 4.0.3.

the exact capacity of the battery could not figure out. But judging by the fact that “tablet” worked at maximum load (viewing HD-video, race in Real Racing 3, a permanent connection Wi-Fi) for nearly four hours, Huawei engineers have either devaysa optimize power consumption or increase the capacity of the battery – the first Lite with battery 4100 mAh in the same mode and did not hold up to three hours. On the other hand, compared with the same Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 or Google Nexus 7 four o’clock – the result of modest.

To buy or not to buy? The question, as always, rests in the price. On the shelves MediaPad 7 Lite 2 should appear in the next month. The estimated price of new items – 10 thousand rubles. Close to the size of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 3 bundled with 3G-module just will cost more.
