Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III: wait for Android 4.4 KitKat – Telecompaper

14.04.2014

Owners inherited two flagship Samsung mobile devices can still likely enjoy fresh mobile version of the Google-system.

Currently only the newest Galaxy S5, as well as inherited Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 got Samsung’s mobile platform Android 4.4 KitKat, proprietary way modified user interface TouchWiz. Owners of older Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III look forward transition for the KitKat.

Some residents of Korea Contact Support Samsung, trying to figure out when it will happen. Seoul Corporation said that modernization “firmware» Galaxy Note II is scheduled for mid-April, while the update for Galaxy S III will be released later: in late April – early May.

It should be understood that this withdrawal schedule updates just for Korean users – the international market will have to wait.

Interestingly, in late February, Samsung has shared a list of those smartphones and tablets, which in their design an international move to Android 4.4 KitKat. And if more polutoradesyatkov devices are updated, the Galaxy S III, alas, remain cuckoo with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung claimed that 1 GB of RAM in the international model Galaxy S III (GT-I9300) insufficient to go to KitKat. Yes, Google optimized Android 4.4, allowing the launch surrounded by at least 512 MB of RAM, but a proprietary shell TouchWiz too gluttonous to system resources.

This statement seems essentially unfounded, because the same Galaxy Grand, equipped with 1 GB of RAM memory upgrade to KitKat.

American variants Galaxy S III without problems get Android 4.4 KitKat, for a 2 GB RAM.

Be that as it may, let’s hope that all goes well.
