The LG G2 was finally revealed last week and obviously its maker, South Korea’s LG, is gearing the device for a direct collision with the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung ‘s third -generation phablet.
What was unleashed is a device brimming with power as reflected by its top-class components and cool features, including some function redesigns never seen before in rival Android handsets.
Analyst greeted the G2 with mixed reactions but all agree that to win over the vaunted Note 3, LG needs to convince consumers that it is the better brand and its Android rendition is the best out there.
Below are the two exciting features that likely would allow the LG G2 to pull a big surprise on its quest to topple Samsung .
A phablet that is easier to handle
Rumours about the Note 3 suggest that its screen will stretch between 5.7-inch and 6-inch flat. Compared to the 5.2-inch G2, the former is a titan though both are powered by Snapdragon 800 CPU and beams out images and clips in 1080p resolution.
If the power within the G2 and the Note 3 are equal, the battle all boils down to ease of use, that is consumers will get to enjoy the phablet experience with fewer prospect of hassles. Clearly, it smaller profile will give the G2 some advantage, likely attracting users who are of the thinking that Samsung pushes the smartphone size over the top.
Another factor for easier phone handling is LG’s decision to put a control button at the back of the phone, replacing the volume rocker on the sides plus giving users the ability to capture self-portraits.
As LG claims in a report by BBC: “Moving the main buttons to the back of the phone gave users more control … Researchers also found that moving the buttons also resulted in fewer dropped phones when adjusting the volume while talking. “
Quality music playback feature
Taking a page from one of HTC One’s more popular menu, music listening, LG equipped the G2 with an audio processing chip that delivers 24 bit of playback quality or as the company puts it: an experience “far superior to a CD.”
Such upscale entertainment menu is paired by LG on other G2 tools that allow users not only to consume but produce contents like high-quality pictures with the use of the G2′s 13MP main shooter, which is aided by image stabilisation.
At the end of the day, the LG G2 is a David pitted against the Goliath that is the Galaxy Note 3, which Samsung will reveal to the world on Sept 4. Actual release date should follow in the immediate weeks so the chance is high that the G2 and Note 3 will engage in a fierce dogfight going into the closing months of 2013.
