design

Design M1 Note, in general, can be called the best. In the case of M2 Note structure has undergone minor but very important changes. The most important of which – touch a circle below the screen, has long been a hallmark of the smartphone Meizu, has sunk into oblivion. One may accuse the company of the decision, but that does not change the fact that the successor to the key mBack much easier. About this “meyzuh” with a circle: how often instead of turning back on the upward swipe you accidentally carry out actions “home”? I think this happens if not permanently, then regularly. And the circle of something, in fact, long ago ceased to be associated exclusively with the Meizu, because Chinese manufacturers, spit on their own sense of dignity, simply stripped the piece (take this opportunity to convey greetings to ZTE, ZOPO and other FAEA). Many indignant, they say, but Meizu she stole the key M2 Note from Samsung! And they will be wrong. First, the rectangular button below the display was in the old model of Meizu M9. Secondly, and in-chief, a physical button mBack multifunctional and can do much more than the usual button at the competitor models. So by briefly pressing with click action performed “home” on the touch pad of your finger clicks without going “back” and to retain the finger on the button with a push for 1 second is carried out “lock” your smartphone. In fact mBack has the same features as the button at the mTouch MX4 Pro (review) and MX5 (previews), but without the fingerprint scanner.

The role of light indicator at M1 Note plays the same sensor ring. At M2 Note separate LED, located at the top of the front side.

Meizu has always cared about the convenience of one-handed operation. That is why the lock and unlock the device can be without the power button, which had always been at the top end. However, M2 Note it still moved on its side. With this handy separate volume keys M1 Note turned into rocker (to touch any confusion).

At M1 Note in the tray, you can insert two SIM-card format micro (dvuhsimnik is the first company). Tray M2 Note also versatile – can take either two nano-SIM-card or a nano-SIM and memory card microSD.

The multimedia speaker is in the same location, but the M1 Note sounds significantly louder and deeper. Maybe it’s the software, and the speakers themselves are identical and will update them on the same level, but not the fact.

If you look at the dimensions (150.7 x 75.2 x 8.9 mm in M1 Note and 150.9 x 75.2 x 8.7 mm at M2 Note), we see that the new little taller and a little thinner. Cover from M2 Note has a slightly different form – flatter. It seems to be little difference, but a fresh model is better in the hand.

The range of colors also changes. If M1 Note is available in five colors (white, green, yellow, pink and blue), the M2 Note can be bought in four colors (white, blue, pink and gray). Fresh color – gray – advantageously differs from all others in that it has a matte texture as cover MX4 and MX4 Pro. If you are going to take M2 Note, then take it gray – it is more practical and more solid.

Screen

Features have identical displays: a diagonal of 5.5 “, a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, pixel density of 403 ppi, contrast ratio of 1000: 1, brightness of 450 cd / m2. Visually, they are also almost identical (one warm, the other colder) – Panel Sharp IGZO. This significant difference in the panels is available and it is in the protective glass. The M1 Note manufacturer applies the glass Gorilla Glass 3 with good oleophobic coating and M2 Note got glass Dragontrail-X layer with less effective.

Software

software foundation for Meizu M2 Note now serves Flyme OS 4.5I-based Android 5.1 Lollipop, while M1 Note works running Flyme OS 4.2.0.6I based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Some small differences in the software are available, but they cease to be when M1 Note upgraded in the summer to “candy».

Sound

It is known that in the MediaTek MT6752 includes audio chip Wolfson WM8281. About MT6753 such information could not be found, though taking into account that the headphones M1 Note M2 Note and play the same way, I dare to suggest that got WM8281 and MT6753. Both phones play for its class great. The volume level is almost there, but the sound is clean, well-balanced frequency.

Camera

The main 13-megapixel camera has a sensor Samsung, aperture f / 2.2, equipped with dual LED-flash different colors and supports autofocus. Since the structure is different, the difference in images can be reduced to processing algorithms. At M2 Note, of course, more recent technologies, and M1 Note surely will get them very soon after the upgrade. I suppose you kept asking how Soup remove the current software. The answer I give in paired photos:

M1 Note – M2 Note:

M1 Note – M2 Note

For the purity of the experiment, all the photos were obtained in a fully automatic mode. If the scene required a manual focus adjustment to the exposure of tapas, the action was carried out on both smartphones. Looking at the pictures we can say that smart phones photographed about the same, with the slight difference is easy to explain the different versions of the software: from M1 Note usually just picks up the white balance and M2 Note in the dark makes the frame a little lighter. In the daytime smartphones equally pleased with the clarity, color, precision guidance, speed focusing. In low light, both devaysa equally sorrowful noise and slow, inaccurate focusing (auto or finger). Programs vary slightly cameras: M2 Note, for example, has the function of separate metering and focus. I am confident in M1 Note this chip will be delivered with updates to Lollipop.

M1 Note – M2 Note

The front 5-megapixel camera OmniVision 5670 with diaphragm f / 2.0 gives good detail. In the examples M1 Note rather handed colors, while M2 Note withdrawn composition in green. I will assume that the fault of the software early novelty – fix in the future if the camera itself is the same.

Video capture both devices come with a resolution of 1080p at 30 frames per second. Detailing comparable (M2 Note once pochetche), color rendering is also virtually identical (M2 Note little contrast). This bit higher in M2 Note (17 Mbps compared to 12 Mbps). Device does not support the AF tracking, so users need to rely on touch-focus (although immediately after the video autofocus once triggered). Significantly different videos with M1 Note and M2 Note sound. Both stereo, but if M1 Note separation channels do not notice, then M2 Note it is, however, not very good – the emphasis is on the left channel.

Iron

M2 Note

The hardware basis for M1 Note is MediaTek MT6752 processor with 8 cores Cortex-A53 at up to 1.7 GHz and a graphics accelerator Mali-T760MP2 frequencies up to 700 MHz and 2 GB of RAM. M2 Note got MediaTek MT6753 processor with the same 8-core Cortex-A53, but with a frequency up to 1.3 GHz, with the schedule meets the Mali-T720MP3 frequencies up to 450 MHz RAM as much – 2GB. As you can see, the more recent MT6753 comes with a large index is weaker than last year’s MT6752. There may be several reasons why Meizu chose less prompt decision. The most obvious – the desire to save money and make the M2 Note more affordable for a larger market share. Take a look at how the devices draw games:

M1 Note – M2 Note:

In fact, even without the performance benchmarks can be seen that M1 Note better at gaming tasks. But curiosity parrot lovers quench: AnTuTu 5.7.1 – 39 833 and 31 877 (M1 Note and M2 Note), Geekbench 3 – 814/4159 and 585/2667, Basemark OS 2 – 905 and 785, 3DMark Unlimited – 10,748 and 6853 , Epic Citadel Ultra – 40,2 fps and 26,6 fps, GFXBench 1080p – 5,7 / 15 and 2.8 fps / 12 fps. As you can see, M1 Note is not only better in computational tasks, but also in the processing of 3D-graphics.

M1 Note – M2 Note

The battery capacity M1 Note is 3140 mAh, M2 Note – 3100 mAh. Hours differ insignificantly. So in the video player mode with a maximum brightness of the old model worked for 5 hours and 44 minutes, and the new – 5 hours 32 minutes (remaining charge of 7% when the phone warned of the imminent shutdown). In the game with a comfortable brightness level M1 Note sat for half an hour at 8%, and M2 Note – 9%.

Conclusion

Honestly, Meizu M2 Note – not quite what I personally expect from a follower sverhudachnym M1 Note. Model number of parameters become better (convenient button, enhanced support for LTE, a memory card slot, a cool gray color scheme), sometimes without modification (screen, camera, sound, headphones, work time), and in some ways even inferior pioneer (the sound of dynamics, performance). If you rarely play or play into something simple, then M2 Note is a right choice due to improved ergonomics and a lower price (plus 4G and microSD). Otherwise, it makes sense to declare the hunt for records out of production, but is still available somewhere in the sale of M1 Note. Especially in the version with 32 GB of memory.

You can buy both devices have official representation Meizu Russia.
