Potential hit: an overview of the smartphone Meizu M2 Note – Gagadget.com | dull website about the technique

The Chinese company Meizu start of a lot harder to produce new models of smartphones, after only half a year after the Meizu M1 Note was released on his successor M2 Note, our editor in chief attended his presentations and has shared some of his impressions, and the editors gg Smartphone already granted to the survey. Meizu M2 Note already sold along with its predecessor, there is information that M1 Note will soon disappear from the shelves. M1 Note was very interesting and successful smartphone because of its cost and so is until now. Its review can be read here. Let’s see what’s different from the M2 Note M1?

What is it?

Meizu M2 Note – a smartphone with a large 5.5-inch display, 64-bit eight-processor, two gigabytes RAM and the latest version of OS Android 5.1 Lollipop.

How is it interesting?

Meizu M2 Note was very similar to its predecessor, and received him with a similar price tag on our market, but differences still exist. The smartphone installed 5.5-inch FullHD-display, 64-bit, eight cores MediaTek, 2 GB of RAM and chamber 13 and 5 megapkseley as its predecessor. There are two slots for SIM-cards this time standard nanoSIM, one of which can be used for memory cards MicroSD, such a possibility in the M1 was not.

What it is?

As part of the smart phone design has changed little: the shape remained similar, using the same polycarbonate, and the size and weight remained virtually unchanged, except that the back cover has become a little more flat. The range has a new color: gray matt (similar to MX4 and MX4 Pro), but we got the white version. The changes affected governments smartphone. Instead of the touch buttons below the screen, which serves as an indicator of notifications in M2 Note button set with built-in sensor and a metal rim. When touched, it acts as a back button, and when you – “home.” Long press blocks smartphone. In older MX5 it is also integrated fingerprint reader. The rest of the front panel is familiar: the big screen, a set of sensors, display and front camera at a sheet of protective glass. Above the screen – the earpiece.

The LED located above the screen, as in the MX4 Pro:

The power button is moved to the upper end of the left, which is clearly more convenient. Immediately available paired volume rocker (predecessor had separate buttons):

On the right side – a tray for SIM-cards and MicroSD:

The design is similar to the lower end of the M1 Note. It placed MicroUSB, Elementary microphone and four large external speaker holes. M1 at hand was not to compare, but it seems that the dynamics are identical. Ring tones sounded quite loud, but you can not say very much qualitatively:

At the top end – one microphone and a 3.5-mm headphone jack:

removable rear cover made of polycarbonate with a logo and Meizu main camera:

The camera module with dual LED flash, it looks like the rest of the actual models of the company:

Manual button with a capacitive sensor, something similar was MX4 Pro, but there was also a fingerprint scanner. The M2 Note digging got oval shape and a metal rim:

Tray for two SIM-card-sized nano, one of which can be used for memory cards MicroSD:

The smartphone is well assembled, nothing creak all the details expected good fit. Meizu M2 Note well in the hand and has a sufficiently small size as a smartphone with 5.5-inch display. From the time of its predecessor smartphone has changed the layout of several governments, which had a positive impact on usability. The power button is moved to better place, and the mechanical button under the screen turned out to be easy to use and to get used to it takes very little time. In fact, already in the first night of use, I used it without hesitation.

Is it good screen?

The M2 Note set is the same 5.5-inch screen IGZO Sharp production technology with a complete lamination. Resolution 1920×1080, standard aspect ratio of 16: 9 and a pixel density of 400.5 ppi. Instead Gorilla Glass 3 oleophobic coating used AGC Dragontrail / NEG T2X-1. Oleophobic coating is, but it is of lower quality than it was in the M1. Declared maximum brightness 450 cd / m 2 . Visually, the screen remained the same good quality. Of course, there is no air space, the viewing angles are maximal.

Even in the bright summer sun the screen is readable, there is a light sensor, it works quite adequately:

Supports multi-touch and 10

The test results showed a colorimeter close to the application: the maximum brightness is 441.386 cd / m 2 , the brightness of the black field 0.659 cd / m 2 , and the contrast of 670: 1. Indicators of a little more modest than M1 Note. Although it is worth considering that may have different delivery and it is possible that the predecessor of the current batch, they are similar. Color reproduction is a little sin excess of blue and lack of red, but within reasonable limits and to face the screen looks great.

The smartphone has an adjustable color temperature, so you can adjust more precisely.

What about performance?

It is difficult to judge what the engineers were guided by Meizu, but M2 Note they decided to establish a more modest 64-bit, eight cores MediaTek MT6753 with cores ARM Cortex-A53 and graphics Mali T720 MP3, 450 MHz (M1 Note has been fitted with 64-bit eight- MediaTek MT6752 on 1.7 GHz and Mali T760 MP2, 700 MHz ). RAM remains the same: 2 GB . Shell “flying” on this hardware, all applications are fine, no problems with the games well, things are a bit worse. Yes, most it is going well, but in the most demanding (Mortal Kombat X in particular) are very noticeable subsidence FPS. In Modern Combat Blackout, UFC, Dead Trigger 2 and Implosion no such problem:

In the shell provided FlymeOS mode selection system: Energy saving, balanced and productive. In the same way as its predecessor:

Pleasantly pleased with the fact that even under high loads smartphone is not too hot. Subjectively, M1 Note was hot. The internal memory of 16 GB in the smartphone, who will not be enough – supports MicroSD memory card up to 128 GB. But in this case will have to be content with only one SIM-card.

With the work of GPS-module everything is fine, he quickly finds satellites, performance is not inferior to the decisions on the same Qualcomm. Apparently, the manufacturer does not skimp on the quality of the antenna, as is the case in many Chinese:

The battery capacity has not changed: 3100 mAh. Given the more modest processor could hope to increase the battery life. In fact, this did not happen. Subjectively, the figure seemed absolutely the same predecessor. With about 30 minutes of talk time, 3-4 hours of Wi-Fi, 3:00 3G-Internet synchronization heap accounts and active communication with the help of any messengers battery will last until the evening of the next day. If we add games and music – you can safely expect a full day’s work from early morning until night.

The musical component similar to that of the M1 Note: external speaker is quite loud and can be heard in most situations, although high quality is no different, that is not too important: listening to music with headphones standing still. The sound quality of the headphones of course essentially loses MX4 Pro (which is one of the most advanced in this respect), but it sounds quite bearable, and most users will be satisfied. Functionally, the player has not changed:

For those who want to know more

The Meizu M2 Note is used quite a budget solution MediaTek MT6753 ( 64-bit, eight cores ARM Cortex-A53 processor with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz and graphics Mali T720 MP3, 450MHz) RAM: 2 GB LPDDR3-1600. Expectedly, the results of synthetic tests are more modest than in the M1 Note. In AnTuTu smartphone is gaining about 31,000 points against 40,000 predecessor. The results of benchmarks:

PRODUCTS interface?

The Meizu M2 Note installed latest version of OS Android 5.1 Lollipop, from which almost nothing left: top tensioned shell Flyme OS version 4.5I, which leaves almost nothing to the original interface Android. Moreover, in spite of the new version, the shell does not differ from the previous versions, which were discussed in detail in the reviews Meizu M1 Note, MX4 and MX4 Pro. The shell has become more stable, but not more than, any significant innovations there:

All widgets and applications uploaded on the desktop, swipe up from the bottom of the screen opens Manager recently launched applications:

The top shutter opens downward swipe anywhere on the screen. Repetitive movements, or by clicking on the appropriate icon opens the full version of it:

Preinstalled Swype-like quite easy to use the keyboard TouchPal:

Have not gone away and gestures to unlock the screen and run applications:

A set of preinstalled applications:

What about the camera?

The main camera has remained the same: 13-megapixel backlit by Samsung with dual LED flash with different color temperatures. The interface has not changed, too:

Various shooting modes, a fully manual:

The photo is commensurate with the quality of M1 Note. Examples of the photo. Standard mode:

The bottom line

Follower extremely successful Meizu M1 Note has turned out not less interesting smartphone, in something less and something more consistent. M2 Note should have as much as its predecessor, so long as both are on sale – you can choose. In the near future M1 Note disappear from the market. At his side is more powerful stuffing for gamers, M2 Note is more suitable for those who have a lot to remove the camera and listening to music from a smartphone (there is support for memory cards MicroSD). Changing the touch buttons on the mechanical – a controversial issue, rather a matter of taste. The rest of the main advantages were in place: good display, convenient and high-quality housing, good shell and price. The smartphone is still no competition in terms of price / performance in its price segment.
