Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Android 4.3 Update
After a few weeks of eagerly waiting for this moment to arrive, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has recently started to pop-up on store shelves, and with that being said, the good “old” Note 2 has passed along the title of “flagship phablet”.
The new Note 3 arrives with more processing power, a slightly larger display boasting full HD 1080p resolution and a handful of other improvements. As expected, the new model also features Android 4.3 out of the box and a new TouchWiz interface which includes a wide range of brand new features, most of which have been designed to take advantage of the S Pen.
However, those of you owning the previous iteration in the Note phablet series, might be wondering whether or not the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update will get approved, and the good news is that, on the most part, it will. More details below.
We’ve recently stumbled across bits of leaked information regarding the arrival of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update. Good news indeed, but if you happen to live in Canada and you own a carrier-branded Note 2, then you may be wondering what the future holds for you.
Thankfully, Samsung Canada has recently spilled the beans and confirmed that it’s working side-by-side with the carriers in order to launch Android 4.3 on the Note 2 in a timely manner.
While no exact launch date has been given, the international model is rumored to receive the update in November or December of 2013. The same timeframe could apply to the Canadian variant as well.
As for what you can expect from the update itself, Android 4.3 will be bundled up with the new TouchWiz interface, in what Samsung calls the “Premium Suite”. This means that after the update, the Note 2 will become compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, and we’re hoping that most (if not all) of the new productivity UI elements of the Note 3 will be ported over to the older sibling.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out so stick around for more. Hopefully, we’ll get more good news sooner rather than later.
