Galaxy Gear to Sync with Galaxy S4, S3, and Note 2 Also - BusinessKorea

Samsung Electronics will provide a software upgrade for its smartwatch “Galaxy Gear” to sync with more smartphone devices than just the Galaxy Note 3.

On October 24, Samsung announced that through the Android OS Jelly Bean 4.3 upgrade, Galaxy S4 and S4 LTE-A users can use the Galaxy Gear as well.

Through this upgrade, a total of four devices, including the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Round, can use the Galaxy Gear. The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will be upgraded later.

Samsung will continue to increase the number of Galaxy Gear synchronizable devices to the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoo, and Galaxy Mega 5.8. Users can upgrade through software updates within the device, or through Samsung’s software management program Kies. Samsung Digital Plazas and Mobile Shops also help users with upgrading.

With the Galaxy Gear becoming available for use with other Galaxy products, Samsung expects Galaxy Gear sales to increase. The Galaxy Gear has been slow on sales because only the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Round 3 2 models are able to sync to the product. With the Galaxy S4 Mini releasing next month in the US, Samsung anticipates some synergy effects for the Galaxy Gear. A Samsung associate said, “Apple has not yet released a smartwatch, so Samsung will use the Gear’s compatibility with various Galaxy products to aggressively push for its sales in the North American market.”

The Galaxy Gear is a wearable device of the Galaxy series. It can be used in many ways once synced with a smartphone. The Galaxy Gear comes with a 1.63 inch OLED display and a 1.9 megapixel digital camera. Using the S Voice feature, users can dial or receive calls by speaking, and continue the call while multitasking. Users can also control the schedule, alarm, settings, and weather displays with their voice.

Leaked 4.3 firmware arrives for Note 2 (N7100) - Android Headlines - Android News

samsung-galaxy-note-2

If you own a Samsung note 2 (N7100) and you are the adventurous sort, then you will be interested to know that Sammobile have just announced that they have received the latest Android 4.3 firmware leak for your device from their sources. The news comes after yesterday’s leak of the 4.3 update schedule for the Note 2, S3 and multiple variants of the S4.

The latest release is N7100XXUEMJ5, and is few builds newer than the previously leaked 4.3 software, one of which was only a personal backup of a very mixed custom rom which included paid apps. So, as usual, Sammobile have come up trumps.

A word of caution, the N7100XXUEMJ5 firmware is still a pre-release Open-Asia firmware, and as such it must be expected to still contain a few bugs. Hopefully it will have solved some of the bugs that were present in the previous leaks, a particularly painful bug for me was the removal of my Google accounts every-time the phone rebooted, while others included being unable to access the greyed out APN tab, and a keyboard error. The leaked firmware should also bring compatibility with Samsung’s Gear SmartWatch.

So, if you are going to flash the latest leaked 4.3 firmware, be sure to backup your data and your apps (I use Titanium Backup, but use the app you are comfortable with), store your photos in a safe place ie on the MicroSD card, and use an app such as SMS Backup & Restore to backup your texts. It would probably be prudent to perform a full Nandroid backup if your have a custom recovery installed.

Samsung have updated the leaked firmwares interface to closely represent the Note 3′s UI, and also included some of the same apps that are included with the S4/Note 3, which include the Knox security software and Samsung Wallet. Sammobile have reported that Samsung is producing a new build of 4.3 every two days for the Note 2, with Android 4.3 under heavy development for all relevant devices.

Right, the important stuff. Remember, if you aren’t sure about what you are doing, wait for the official 4.3 firmware which won’t be too much longer, with rumours of it being available at some point in November.

Sammobile have also stated that the N7100XXUEMJ5 will neither increase your binary counter OR void your warranty.

Firmware details:

Model : GT-N7100

Country : Open Asia

Version : Android 4.3

Changelist : 1903221

  • Download Odin3 v3.09 (From here or here)

  • Extract Odin. ZIP file

  • Open Odin3 v3.09

  • Restart phone in download mode (Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons)

  • Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin

  • Add N7100XXUEMJ5_N7100OLBEMJ4_N7100XXUEMJ5_HOME.tar.md5 to AP

  • Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked

  • Click start button, sit back and wait a few minutes.

  • If you encounter any issues with the firmware (Any FC, Bootloop etc)

  • Boot into recovery mode (Home + power + vol up)

  • Choose to wipe / factory reset. (THIS WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA INCLUDING YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD!)

At this point, you should choose to reboot your phone. Its unknown at present whether flashing the firmware via the Mobile Odin app will work, if the process is successful, it isn’t yet known if it is able to keep root on this latest 4.3 leak. That of course, is only relevant if you rooted in the first place.

Remember, if you do run into any problems with the 4.3 leak, here is the support thread for the firmware on the XDA forums.

Download the N7100XXUEMJ5 firmware from here. Good luck and happy flashing! Remember to post your feedback in the comments or at our Google Plus page.

Android 4.3 brings Gear support for Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 - CNET UK

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear will soon work with a host of other Samsung mobiles, as the South Korean tech giant expands the usefulness of its smart watch.

The wrist-occupier will soon work with the Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Note 2 smart phones, Samsung has confirmed. Compatibility for these high-profile mobiles will arrive via the Android 4.3 update, which is already arriving across Europe, and should be in the UK imminently.

Samsung is also making the Galaxy Gear – which up until now was only compatible with the Galaxy Note 3 – play nice with less high-tech Samsung phones.

The Galaxy S4 Mini, S4 Active, S4 Zoom, Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3 will also benefit from Gear support, although compatibility for these phones will arrive via a ‘separate software update’ that begins at the end of October, Samsung says.

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear has buckets of potential, and looks dead classy, ??but a lack of basic features meant we could only award it two and a half stars in our review.

We also complained about the need to own the expensive Note 3 in order to make the Gear work. Bringing support to a broader range of mobiles is definitely the first step for Samsung when it comes to making its smart watch more tempting.

Samsung says the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will bring “easier text input, and updated graphics and multimedia”. You also get Samsung’s Knox security app, a Smart Switch app to quickly swap media from other phones to Samsung gadgets, Samsung HomeSync and Group Play 2.5 with shared video support.

Would you buy the £ 300 Galaxy Gear? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.

Samsung Apologizes To Chinese Customers For Galaxy S3 And Note 2 Problems - Ubergizmo

Samsung Apologizes To Chinese Customers For Galaxy S3 And Note 2 Problems We’re not sure why, but it seems that China in particular seems to have been affected badly when it comes to malfunctioning smartphones and the services when it comes to dealing with them. For example Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, has in the past apologised to Chinese consumers for the way they dealt with repair and warranty enquiries for their iPhone, and now it looks like Samsung will be issuing their own apology as well. In a statement released on their website, Samsung was quoted as saying, “We welcome the scrutiny by the media. As a result of management problems, we have brought inconveniences to consumers, and we offer our sincere apologies. “

The phones in question are the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2, both of which have apparently been rather problematic for customers in China, with reports that both devices crash up to 30 times a day! Crashing once or twice on a daily basis is already unacceptable so we can only imagine the frustration that these users are having when it crashes 30 times. In any case the South Korea tech giant has announced that they will be offering affected customers repair for either device free of charge, and will refund those who have already paid for repairs, and worst case scenario, will offer a full replacement for devices that are still having issues after multiple repairs.

Samsung Galaxy Gear Now Compatible With Galaxy S4, S3 And Note 2 - Ubergizmo

Samsung Galaxy Gear Now Compatible With Galaxy S4, S3 And Note 2

The Samsung Galaxy Gear has understandably received mixed reviews among the majority of the tech world, but what didn’t help is the device was only limited to be used along with the Galaxy Note 3. This left many who already owned a Samsung device out in the cold, but the company has apparently opened the doors for its Galaxy Gear to be compatible with a number of previously released Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Note 2.

Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Note 2 owners can now head on over to their consumer retailer of choice and pick up the Galaxy Gear, that is, if they believe it to be a worthy accessory to their already impressive smartphone. If your Samsung device isn’t listed as being able to support the Galaxy Gear, your worries will soon be over as Samsung says they will extend compatibility with their smartwatch by the end of October. This means those of you with the Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Active, Mega 5.8, Mega 6.3 and Galaxy S4 Zoom will be able to get in on the Galaxy Gear fun soon enough as Samsung plans to roll out a separate software update globally at the end of October.

iPad Air vs Lumia 2520 vs Surface 2 vs Galaxy Note 10.1 in 2014 - NDTV

Apple unveiled the fifth-generation iPad, the iPad Air at a special event on Tuesday. The new iPad Air is much thinner, lighter and sleeker than the previous generation iPad, and packs in the latest hardware – including the 64-bit Apple A7 processor.

Interestingly, ailing smartphone maker, Nokia also unveiled its first Windows RT tablet, the Lumia 2520. Microsoft had already refreshed its Surface tablet earlier this year, improving the device’s hardware. The 10-inch tablet segment is seeing some action, with Samsung also unveiling the 2014 edition of its Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. We take a look at what each one of these large tablets brings to the table.

The new iPad Air sports a 9.7-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels and a pixel density of 263ppi. The Nokia Lumia 2520 on the other hand, comes with a 10.1-inch full-HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, and a pixel density of 218ppi. The Microsoft Surface 2 tablet comes with a 10.6-inch display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution and 206ppi pixel density. The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) tablet features a 10.1-inch WQXGA (2560X1600 pixels) Super clear LCD display and 298ppi pixel density.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) display has a higher resolution and packs in more pixels per inch, followed by the iPad Air, Lumia 2520 and the Surface 2.

The iPad Air is powered by a 64-bit A7 chip which also powers the new iPhone 5s, offering up to two times faster CPU and graphics performance than the previous generation iPad. It also features the M7 motion coprocessor that takes care of measuring motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass sensors, sending them to apps without waking up the A7 processor, leading to improved battery life. The Nokia Lumia 2520 is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, while the Surface 2 sports an NVIDIA Tegra 4 (T40) 1.7 GHz Quad Core chip. The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition in India is powered by a 1.9GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor, while its other variant is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, along with 3GB of RAM.

It’s hard to compare performance since the four tablets run on different platforms but each one comes with the latest hardware specifications.

The new iPad Air features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front facing one . It supports 1080p HD video recording. The Nokia Lumia 2520, on the other hand, features a 6.7-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The Surface 2 sports a 5.0-megapixel rear-facing camera and 3.5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition boasts of a high-end 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor and autofocus accompanied by an LED flash, and a 2-megapixel BSI sensor.

We’re not sure if everyone uses the camera on a tablet, so a high-end rear camera might not make sense for everyone. The Surface 2′s front-camera sensor has the highest resolution. All of the tablets would be good for making video calls.

The iPad Air comes in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage variants, while the Nokia Lumia 2520 comes offers 32GB built-in storage memory expandable via microSD card. The Surface 2 comes in 32GB and 64GB variants and also features a microSD card slot for expansion. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB built-in storage variants, with a microSD card slot for expansion.

Coming to software, the iPad Air runs iOS 7, the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS. The Nokia Lumia 2520 and Surface 2 run Windows RT, the tablet optimised stripped down version of Windows. The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

In terms of apps, the iPad Air has an edge over Windows RT and Android based tablets as a large number of iOS apps have been optimised for the iPad . Apple now also offers its iLife and iWork suit of apps free of charge, to new customers, The tablet-specific app scene is pretty dismal on Windows and Android, though the Surface 2 and Nokia Lumia 2520 tablets come with Microsoft Office 2013 RT office apps .

It’s worth pointing out that barring the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, none of these tablets are available in India, at this point in time. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, at a price point of Rs. 49,999. The iPad Air starts at $ 499 and the Lumia 2520 is also priced similarly. The Surface 2 starts at $ 449.

Samsung makes Galaxy Gear compatibile with Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2 - Telegraph.co.uk

The Galaxy Gear is currently only compatible with the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. However, the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update will extend compatibility to the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2.

Samsung will also extend Galaxy Gear compatibility to other Galaxy devices – including the Galaxy S4 Mini, S4 Active, Mega 5.8, Mega 6.3, and Galaxy S4 Zoom – through a separate software update beginning globally at the end of October. Software update schedules for each device will vary by country and operator.

“Extending the Galaxy Gear compatibility to more Galaxy devices reflects our deep commitment to continuing to deliver our consumers enriched mobile experiences,” said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile division, Samsung Electronics.

The Galaxy Gear will enable Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2 users to make and answer calls and view incoming messages and notifications with just a glance. Samsung said the Android 4.3 update will also provide easier text input, and updated graphics and multimedia. Some Samsung features and applications will also be updated, including Knox (Samsung’s mobile security solution), Smart Switch (which transfers content from other smartphones to Samsung devices) and HomeSync cloud storage.

Technology analyst firm Canalys predicts the smartwatch market will boom over in 2014 with the release of a “new generation of devices”, with up to five million smartwatches being shipped by the end of the year.

“Smartwatches will be the most important new product category in consumer electronics since the iPad defined the market for tablets,” said Chris Jones, a vice president at the firm.

“Software platforms tied to smartwatches will also be a tremendous opportunity for developers to write apps in categories such as health and wellness or sports and fitness.”

However, Samsung’s decision not to make the Galaxy Gear compatible with smartphones made by other manufacturers has been criticised by some reviewers, and is likely to limit sales of the device.

What is happening with the market of mobile phones is increasingly beginning to resemble laptops when the model exists in a dozen configurations, artfully encoded in the title. And go and try to understand – which model do you bring to the test and whether it is globally different from other configurations. It’s important: the journalist tested the fact that he brought and gave some results, including in numbers: so many runs on batteries, so and so performance in parrots, but so is a screen, but is found software. The reader familiar with the review and went to the store, bought, and, as it can be bought at all that. Who is to blame and what to do?

So, be warned once: we tested the model SM-N9005, and all that is written here applies it to her. We have, for example, worked as a module LTE, but the model N900, which sells Megaphone, judging from the performance characteristics on their website, there is no LTE. It is unlikely that this is a mistake on the site, considering how badly wants to sell Megaphone users to LTE.

Note that different versions of the Galaxy Note 3 are not only the presence or absence of the module LTE – there are differences in the processor. The above-mentioned model N900 runs on Exynos 5 Octa – eight cores with a clock speed of 1900 MHz production Samsung, and our test unit – a quad 800 MSM8974AB Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a clock frequency of 2265 MHz.

similar confusion previously characterized the products LG – there almost every country different models supplied. Now here’s the LG more or less brought the product line up, but Samsung, on the contrary, unbelted. Even relatively conservative Sony were noted in the press quite so strange fact: different countries have the same models are fundamentally different in quality screens.

in the table above, we compare Galaxy Note 3 to the LG Optimus G Pro even though the latter was released a year earlier. Now LG stopped playing lopatomaniyu and their new LG G2 has a screen “only” 5.2 inches, so to compare it to Note 3 is not entirely correct. On the other hand, Optimus G Pro has a similar diagonal 5.5 inches, and only slightly less efficient than the Note 3. The truth here is the pen-stylus with “Optimus” no.

Samsung continues to increase the diagonal of the Note. At first, it was equal to 5.3 inches, and then, in Note 2 was 5.55 inches, and there is 5.7 inches. However, in all three number hand felt about the same.

At the time, as Apple has refused skevomorfizma in the design of its operating system (recall skevomorfizm – when visually simulate any material, such as leather or wood), Samsung has decided to play with skevomorfizmom in the material body. Make a plastic “under the metal”, it is already in Korean, and plastic “under the skin” is something new. But let’s be honest: to touch the rear surface Galaxy Note 3 very personal. True, it’s only because it reminds sensation (just remind) the skin, and feeling genuine leather, cause a person to the association with quality, reliability and high cost. Psychologists probably would have called it “anchor”. But in reality, it is no expensive and high-quality leather is not here! It’s not even imitation leather – it’s just plastic.

However, skevomorfizm in Korean design has always been more the rule. I remember that the author was a guitar made some Korean firm: there was a lot of fake screws – the designer for some reason decided that when the guitar visible screws – it’s cool and pleasant to people. In reality, the cogs on it was three times less. So, “leather” battery cover at the Galaxy Note 3 – the solution of purely Korean and European Heart questionable. Somehow it looks like the faux “gold-plating” imitations of Swiss watches.

Skin Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 2014 Edition

Many users

Galaxy Note 10.1 was not to the liking of sleek design, so the new version of the Samsung device was replaced by a new material – matt plastic. To add a device similar to some diary, Samsung has made the rear panel under the skin. Back cover material is pleasant to the touch, but, more importantly, provides a secure grip device. At the top of the back of the eye is an 8-megapixel camera and flash.

Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 2014 Edition

If you look at the front panel, you’ll notice that the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition has a lot to do with the Korean company’s smartphones. Good or bad let everyone decide for himself.

top, above the screen manufacturer put a front 2-megapixel camera for communication with Skype and other similar services, as well as a light sensor. The entire front panel, of course, covers the glass.

under the screen in the center there are three buttons – “Menu”, “Home” and “Back”. In this case, the central button “Home» Samsung has made the physical, and the other two – virtual. This is all well and good, but not every user will be able to reach them with your fingers. In my view, even the virtual buttons on the left would have been much easier to use.

Facets

device made of plastic. On their surface coated with silver coating that wears off over time, necessarily. Especially it touches the buttons on the top edge of the frame. However, I have no doubt that the product will look like brand new, with due respect and in a year, and before you know it, Samsung will inform users that the Galaxy Note 10.1 hopelessly out of date in 2014, so you just need to buy a new revolutionary tablet.

However, much more we did not like the layout of the buttons – on the top side of the device. Difficult to access, if you hold the tablet horizontally. No, to reach the power button can not be said about the volume control. In our view, this rocker was to be on the left side. The top is also the IR sensor.

left the tablet is a connector for headphones or headsets, as well as one of the speakers.

On the opposite side, that is right, we can detect a second speaker, a silo, as well as slots for memory cards and SIM-card hiding under plastic covers. By the way, insert the micro-SIM from the first time we could not (Samsung regretted the paint on the application of the corresponding indicator?). We are silent, that fixing the card in the slot was even more trivial.

On the lower bound of the manufacturer put the port for the charger and data-cable. Note that here the usual microUSB, and not a proprietary connector. This is a Win.

As for the assembly, then there is no complaints. Tablet built to last. In this case, it did not creak and did not play. However, it seemed to us that in the pursuit of millimeters and grams Samsung has reduced the thickness of the material of the body. One gets the impression that the Galaxy Note 10.1 is made of paper, so the slightest physical effort and it will break in half.

screen Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 2014 Edition

immediately note that the release of Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Korean company has tried to keep up with other manufacturers in the arsenal are already quite a while there are models of devices with very high resolution. Perhaps the reason for it was the partnership with Google, in which Samsung Nexus forbidden to produce an analogue of 10 for a period of time. However, we assume that everything is much more prosaic – the Samsung is no more LCD panels for your own device. However, even with the delay, but the South Korean company still released the Note 10.1 with the new screen.

main advantage of the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 – sverhkachestvenny display with a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels

So, the tablet Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Editon features a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. The display is based on a matrix made by technology PLS.

In general, for a new device, Samsung has taken the best decision that could offer its division for the development and production of LCD screens. The display has an impressive stock of brightness, as well as the broadest viewing angles. Pleased with the saturation of images, its color reproduction and contrast. We would say that now display in the Android device is no worse than in the Retina iPad, while taking into account the aspect ratio and did much better.
