Samsung will shut off, all US Galaxy Note 7 – RBC

Samsung is forcibly shut off in the US, all smartphones, Galaxy Note 7. The company will release a special software, which will make the device “useless” reports NBC, citing a Samsung statement.

According to the channel, the update will block phone charging, and connecting to mobile networks. It will completely deprive smartphones “ability to function as a mobile device,” the company said. The software will be sent to phones on December 19.

In early September, Samsung asked the owners of smartphones Galaxy Note 7 with the recommendation to turn off and as soon as possible to exchange your device because there is the threat of overheating and fire. The reason the company is called the defect in batteries produced by one of the suppliers. However, in early October, Samsung has resumed sales of the device in South Korea. After the phone from a new batch exploded in the hands of the owner, the company announced the temporary suspension of production of the Galaxy Note 7.

According to Reuters, in the third quarter of the current year the company’s profit fell 30%. The reduction in revenues to Samsung connected with problems arising with new models of the Galaxy Note 7.
