Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs iPhone 5: Which Is Better? - SidhTech

Which is the hottest handset the Apple iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

If you are looking into getting your hands on a new phone then you may be considering the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or the Apple iPhone 5. Both of the handsets are available in stores and they are excellent handsets. But which of these is the best?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has Jelly Bean as the OS, while the Apple iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6. Both of the operating systems have the good and bad points. iOS 6 is the most stable out of the operating systems and it is easy to learn and use. Devices on iOS usually have a better resale value too. There are more polished apps in the Apple Store than what you can get in the Google Play Store. The apps in the Google Play store are free with ads while you pay for them without at the App Store.

When Jelly Bean was released it was a large jump up and Android is always being updated. It may be more difficult to learn, but it can be worth it. iOS is more simple to learn, but then it is more restrictive than Android.

If you want to be able to customise your device then you would have to go with Android as it offers plenty of ROMs, widgets, launchers and much more. When it comes to synching you don’t have to use iTunes either. If you go with iOS then you can change your ringtone and your wallpaper and that is it. Android is typically the slower of the two operating systems for updates. When Apple reveal a new OS the Apple iPhone 5 should get it within just a few weeks and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 could be waiting for months to get an update following its release.

The older devices on Android also get left behind and this may mean that the year old Samsung Galaxy Note 2 doesn’t get an update past Jelly bean. The Apple iPhone 5 will get iOS 7 when Apple reveals it.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with twice the speed that the iPhone this is due to the quad core processors and the fact that it comes with twice the amount of RAM. The battery is bigger too, but then the display is larger and it also features the S Pen. When it comes to looks the iPhone happens to be the best of the two and this is down to the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has the plastic look to it.

You may get around 35 hours of use with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when on 2G and if you use 3G you could get around 16 hours. The handset has a battery that is removable and there is a microSD card, you cannot get this with the Apple iPhone 5.

Both of the handsets support a camera of 8MP and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 also has a 1.9 on the front, while the Apple iPhone 5 has the 1.2 megapixel. Both of the devices have LTE and support for HSPA +

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the winner for the battery, processor and the storage. The Apple iPhone 5 wins when for its design, the price and the camera. The price is $ 199 for the Apple iPhone 5 and $ 299 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
