Smartphone Review Meizu M3 Note: Accessible metal bestseller – Gagadget.com | dull website about the technique

Meizu with enviable frequency produces new models of smartphones and, to tell the truth, it seems that the company has not yet decided on any clear strategy and a little surprised by some of the steps. For example PRO 6, which, unlike its predecessors, with larger screens and processors Samsung Exynos, received a 5.2-inch screen and a top processor from MediaTek. Despite this, the Meizu smart phones is still extremely interesting in terms of price / quality. And today we have a new M3 Note, which is (potentially) become a bestseller, like its predecessors

What is the

Meizu M3 Note -.? Smartphone with 5.5-inch display , a fresh 64-bit eight-core processor, metal housing, topical not only for the flagship fingerprint scanner and a very attractive price tag.

How is it interesting?

The difference between Meizu M1 Note and M2 Note (on the links you can read our review) was very small and not always for the better. In particular, M2 Note a little lost in performance, but got support for MicroSD memory cards. In the case of M3 Note improvements occurred in almost all fronts: instead of plastic is now the metal case, a version with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory, significantly more than the battery, there is a fingerprint reader, and uses a new eight-processor MediaTek Helio P10, which we meet for the first time.

Good looks?

The general concept of the appearance has not changed much and is recognized by the already familiar from the time of appearance of the Meizu predecessor, but now in the metal. The options are gray with a black front panel, gold with white and silver, once again, with a white faceplate. In front there is no radical innovations: a large display, a standard set above it and a button – under. The whole front glass panel is closed T2X 1, with rounded edges, in the spirit of modern trends. Frames on the sides are quite thin:

Under the screen is the only button mTouch 2.1, which, as in M2 Note returns back when you tap on the main screen – when pressed, but now also reads fingerprints :

Above the screen – earpiece, symmetrically positioned (perfectionist paradise) the front camera aperture and the sensors and LED :

in addition to the symmetrical “eyes” on the screen, similar to the made and the lower end. MicroUSB middle and four round holes on each side (a left group hiding microphone, under the right – an external speaker):

On the left is a tray for SIM-cards and MicroSD:

As in the previous model used a hybrid tray. You can insert any two SIM-cards nano format, or one nanoSIM plus MicroSD:

The headphone jack is still on the top, next to – the opening of additional microphone:

Physical keys are implemented similarly to past flagship Meizu PRO 5: located in a small recess. They are quite rise above the body and have a moderately tight, pleasant course:

Almost all of the back panel is made of metal. Updated the Meizu logo, above – the camera module:

The camera lens is located in the middle, just below – dual LED flash. The layout is standard for Meizu. The top and bottom of the housing – two plastic inserts similar to output antennas. They are made from very close to the color of the metal. The implementation is similar to the PRO 5 and the MX5, a neat plastic inserts, as in PRO 6 is not:

There are no complaints about the build quality and materials do not arise: all is well tailored, thanks to a successful form of the smartphone well in the hand, and the metal only adds to the pleasant sensations. Compared to its predecessors, the Meizu M3 Note definitely looks more expensive, solidly and with integrity.

Is the screen?

Good The M3 Note a screen with all of the same diagonal of 5.5 -dyuymov, 1920×1080 and pixel density of about 401 ppi. Use high-quality IPS-matrix with full lamination technology with no air gap. Declared maximum brightness 450 cd / m 2 . Glass used T2X-1 with rounded edges, as in many modern smartphones, for the most part – the more expensive price range. Of course, there are enough good quality oleophobic coating. We had a test sample (as practice shows, previous models, the screen quality may differ significantly from the final models). With excellent viewing angles all, saturated colors, and a pleasant, happy picture:

Reserve brightness is sufficient, although subjective, it is lower than its predecessor. We’ll check later:

Supports multitouch to 10 touches. The standard for any modern smartphone (except – except that most low cost “Chinese”):

For those who want to know more

As expected, the colorimeter showed that the maximum brightness is far from the declared value and is 344.943 cd / m 2 , the brightness of the black field 0.601 cd / m 2 , and the contrast of 574: 1. Then again, it is worth recalling that we have – the engineering model and the final version of the case for certain things better. As for color, then the situation is very bad. As usual, there is almost no changing in different versions Flyme utility to adjust color:

Red and green are at the right level, but there is little surplus of blue. Color temperature does not rise above 7500K (when the reference value of 6500K):

Comparison with Competitors:

What is the situation with a capacity

Meizu M3? Note is based on the new processor MediaTek Helio P10 (aka MT6755M), with which we were previously unfamiliar. This – 64 eight-bit processor with two blocks of four cores: 1.8 GHz and up to 1 GHz energy efficiency with a new one (in comparison with a precursor) graphics accelerator. The RAM may be 2 or 3 GB, we – the junior model. In practice, the system is actually more powerful than its predecessors, but Helio X10 does not hold. What is not surprising: X-series is positioned as a more productive and P – for the average. Despite this, no problems with the operation of the interface. All modern games also come loose (as observed in the Meizu M2 Note). Yes, not at maximum graphics settings, but pretty well. The body heats up minimally, only in case of serious loads:

As usual, in the shell Flyme provided operating mode selection system: Energy saving, balanced and performance:

will sell versions with 16 or 32 GB of internal memory, it is possible instead of a set of SIM-cards MicroSD. Standard Chinese solution that not everyone likes, but better that than do without the possibility of extension

The work of GPS-module of questions does not cause satellites is very fast:.

The battery capacity has increased from 3100 mAh to 4100 mAh, which is very important. In the video playback mode smartphone lives about 12 hours, and slightly less than 6 hours at maximum load. Under normal circumstances, two days to complete the work conversations, web surfing, timing and the order of half an hour per day games. The increase in capacity has given it is expected fruits

The external speaker is quite loud shouts, but not too much quality, but most importantly -. It is still not miss an important call, and not to assess the quality. also no miracles should not wait in headphones: all average. For high quality sound – leaders, and including Meizu

For those who want to know more

64-bit processor. MediaTek Helio P10, in this case – it is more modest modification MT6755M contains 8 cores Cortex-A53 in two blocks: 4h1.8 GHz + 4×1 GHz, 64-bit. Graphics Accelerator – Mali-T860MP2 with a frequency of 550 MHz, RAM – 2 or 3 GB of dual channel LPDDR3. Records to wait, but the smartphone demonstrates quite good results in synthetic tests (although lower than that of smartphones MediaTek Heliio X10, for example):

What is firmware and interface

?

Our test sample was working on OS Android 5.1 Lollipop with shell Flyme 5.1.3.0G. The letter G denotes the end of the global version of Google. But in our sample set early, raw version of the Ukrainian and Russian languages, but without gugloservisov. They need to be established by a separate application. So to fully assess the firmware is not absolutely correct and should wait for the final version. All variants of the 5th Flyme practically do not differ from each other, so that all that we have seen in reviews 5 PRO and PRO 6.

Standard Organization only desktops without a separate application menu. There is support for folders, gestures, double-tap of the awakening, unlock swipe up, sign running applications. All customary for Flyme:

The top shutter opens swipe down anywhere on the screen. Repeated motion opens the full version and notifications, and all switches:

The settings menu is organized in a standard way, much easier than in earlier versions 4.5:

A separate control menu SIM-cards with a choice of maps for the default data and priority of your network:

and a separate point security settings to the setting of a fingerprint scanner. They can save up to 5 pieces. Although crude firmware, the scanner works quickly and accurately:

A set of pre-installed applications:

In spite of the crude version of the software, the smartphone (mostly) works properly and quickly. Just had some brakes a couple of times, glitches with Wi-Fi and installing applications. I am sure that in the final version they will not be.

What about the camera?

The main camera is 13 megapixels, the phase focus, f / 2.2, dual LED-flash different colors. Front camera: 5 megapixel, f / 2.0. The interface is not changed. There panel with quick access to functions and settings, the mode switch, access to previous picture. As usual, there is a separate manual mode:

Video mode, manual mode and other modes are included in a separate menu, HDR – in settings:

Meizu sins on algorithms photos and videos with the camera. In this case, the situation has not changed, but should wait for the final version. Examples of images:

HDR:

Video camera shoots in FullHD:

There is a Slow Motion mode, but the resolution is 640×480:

The bottom line

In the Meizu M3 Note has updated and improved almost all compared to the M2 Note. Positive change is really important: the smartphone had a good metal case, got a convenient and fast fingerprint reader, a new platform with better performance and a more capacious battery. The only thing that frustrates – is the quality of the camera, but should wait for a commercial sample with the final firmware. It is suspected that there will be cases obstoyat better. Smartphone obviously become very popular in the price category up to 5000 UAH (the older version with 3 GB of RAM will cost so much) to competitors for the money virtually nothing to offer for the same money. The closest competitor – Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 boasts higher performance, but lacks a slot for MicroSD and costs more
